Prostate Health Test kit (PSA test)

A simple blood test for elevated levels of Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) in men. Gives fast and reliable results in only 10 minutes  The prostate health test kit includes: a test cassette, desiccant and dropper in a foil pouch, buffer solution, lancet and full instructions.

Why is the prostate test kit important?

Prostate Specific Antigen - PSA - is a substance made by the prostate gland. It naturally enters the bloodstream. As the prostate enlarges for any reason it secretes more PSA therefore checking for elevated levels of  PSA can act as a good early warning of potential problems with the prostate gland including prostate cancer. There are, however, many reasons why PSA levels may be raised, e.g. enlargement of the prostate gland due to age, prostatitis or urinary infection.

Prostate cancer is thankfully rare in men younger than 50 years of age and the average age of diagnosis for prostate cancer is 75 years. It has been said that more men die with prostate cancer than from prostate cancer. The test can provide an indication of a pre-clinical condition before any symptoms develop. The Prostate test kit (PSA test kit) can also be a useful marker for some of the other conditions mentioned earlier.

If the results of the Prostate test (PSA test) kit show that your PSA level is even slightly raised you should consult your doctor as you may need further tests. If the results are definitely raised then your GP will most likely refer you to a specialist for further tests.
