Stomach ulcer symptoms?

Are you experiencing what you think may be symptoms of a stomach ulcer?

 

These may include:

 

• Pain in your upper abdomen just below the breastbone. This is the most common symptom. It often comes and goes and often is eased if you take antacid medicines like Zantac. Eating can make the pain worse and it may wake you from sleep at night.

 

Other ulcer symptoms which may occur include

:

• Bloating
• Excessive wind
• Retching, and feeling nauseous, queasy or sick
• You may feel particularly 'full up' after eating.

The test is simple and easy to undertake in the comfort and privacy of your own home. It looks for the presence of a common bacteria called helicobacter pylori which is the major cause of stomach ulcers. If you test positive for this bacteria your G.P. can prescribe anti biotic treatment which is generally very effective in curing the infection and associated stomach ulcer symptoms.

 

It is worth testing if you have a family history of ulcers as the bacteria is often times passed by close family contact and eradicating it before ulcers actually develop is clearly a good idea.

 

Helicobacter pylori infection often causes no discernable symptoms at all. Infection by can unnoticed for many years and you may never develop or suffer stomach ulcer symptoms.

 

However, infection by H pylori is also associated with stomach cancer and other  disorders so even if you have no stomach ulcer symptoms or stomach problems eradication of the infection can be beneficial for your future health.
